First-semester B. Architecture students from Groups A and B went on a fascinating journey to learn about brick-making. Guided by faculties Ar. Rashish Lal Shrestha and Ar. Krishna Gopal Prajapati, they visited brick kilns in Bhaktapur on the 23rd and 26th of Magh, 2080.
They visited three kilns: Dakshin Barahi Brick Factory in Thimi, Bhaktapur Ceramics in Byasi, and Prajapati Ceramics on the way to Changunarayan. The trip gave them a detailed look at the whole brick-making process, from preparing clay to burning bricks.
Students saw firsthand the careful work involved in molding clay by hand and using machines. They also learned about drying and burning bricks in different kilns. This practical experience complemented their classroom studies and gave them a better understanding of architecture.
