On Sunday, August 23rd, the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, through its newly formed Training and Placement Cell, organized a guest presentation to inform newly graduated and current students about career opportunities in the field of Electronics and Communication.
Principal Er. Sujan Maka, in his concluding remarks, underscored the significance of the newly established Training and Placement Cell, which is designed to support students in acquiring the necessary training and skills to confidently enter the workforce upon graduation. He highlighted the college’s ongoing efforts to bridge the gap between academic education and industry demands through memorandums of understanding with various companies, thereby enhancing students' career prospects. Er. Maka also mentioned the availability of college funding for students interested in entrepreneurship and extended his best wishes to the newly graduated students.
The guest speaker, Er. Samin Munankarmi, an alumnus of the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering and currently a Support and Implementation Engineer at Clusus Information Solution Pvt. Ltd., provided a comprehensive overview of career opportunities in the telecommunications and information technology sectors. He discussed various roles in telecommunications, such as RF planning, base transceiver stations (BTS), base station controllers (BSC), mobile switching centers (MSC), and billing software systems. In the IT sector, he covered career paths in server setup and administration, network setup and administration, database management, and security management. Er. Munankarmi also offered valuable advice on the training required to secure desired positions and advance careers. He identified key companies in Nepal offering job opportunities for Electronics and Communication Engineers, including NCELL, Nepal Telecom, and Huawei in telecommunications, as well as e-Sewa, Nepal Clearing House, Leapfrog, Worldlink, Vianet, Websurfer, Logpoint, and others in the financial and IT sectors.
Dr. Sarbagya Buddhacharya contributed to the session by sharing his experiences in both the industrial and academic sectors. He emphasized the importance of practical training for students to remain competitive in the job market, noting that theoretical knowledge alone is often insufficient. Dr. Buddhacharya introduced Quality Assurance as an emerging career field and highlighted the significant opportunities available in academia.
