The study tour for Department faculties, lab assistants and engineers of the technical section was organized with the objective to visit Sunkoshi-Marin Diversion Multi-purpose Project, Sindhuli on 24th Magh, 2080. The visit was a part of the training on Quality Assurance and Quality Control provided by Er. Jagadishwar Man Shrestha (Former Senior Divisional Engineer, Department of Irrigation, Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Government of Nepal).
The study visit was carried out in two parts. The first day visit was arranged for the presentation of Sunkoshi-Marin Diversion Multi-purpose Project, Sindhuli on 23rd Magh, 2080. A brief presentation to faculties about the overall project was arranged at the site office. The Project Director Er. Mitra Baral presented about the project and was very informative for the faculties.
On the second day, visit was arranged for the construction site of Sunkoshi-Marin Diversion Multi-purpose Project, Sindhuli. The faculties visited the construction site of the diversion tunnel where Geologist Purushottam Shilpakar explained about the construction of the tunnel and present problems during the construction works. He also described about the working procedure of the Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) with help of dynamic small scale replica. The trainer Er. Jagadiswar Man Shrestha guided the faculties to batching plant, segment casting plant and the material testing laboratory.
