ACAE Talk was held in 22nd January 2022, Sunday at Khwopa Engineering College, organised by Department of Architecture. The presentation was delivered by Ar. Ridha Razak on the topic “Metaverse and Architecture: The future is now”and Ar. Adrianta Aziz on the Topic “Beyond Dimension”.
Ar. IDr Ts Ridha Razak is a Transdisciplinary Architect & Creativist educated in Australia, Austria, Japan & Malaysia. He was a former chairman of ACYA (Arcasia Committee of Young Architects) representing PAM, Malaysia from 2019-2021. Currently he is a member of Board of Architects & Technologist, Member of Institutes of Architects, Interior Designers, Planners, Arbitrators, Fire Engineers, and Inspector of works and ICOMOS. The benefits of the metaverse for architecture were the main topic of the lecture. His talk was centred on new forms of perception in the digital age. According to his presentation, "The word metaverse has been a big buzz for the past few months, especially after Mark Zuckerberg's announcement on the transformation of Facebook to META. From as simple as exhibitions, events management, meeting rooms, enhance gamifications, medical adaptations, library data storage to radical applications real estate, casino, mortuary, galaxies, and many more. "Therefore, his talk demonstrated how architects may be involved in this new technology societal need and investigate the potential of a parallel universe that combines the physical and digital worlds to create new normal trends and progressions.
Ar. Adrianta Aziz is an Architect & Educator, a partner of AR RAD Architects and ARN Consulting and Training which is the first Architectural training Company in Malaysia. He is the PAM Malaysia Committee chairman for Education for the year 2022-2023 and Chairman of ACAE - ARCASIA Commitee Architecture Education. 2022-2023. He also has his own TV programme in Malaysia namely “Project Urban” to educate public regarding the important of place making. The inspiring presentation began with a sincere expression of gratitude for the teachers and mentors. The dynamic and emotional presentation provided insight into the many facets and dimension of architecture. He further elaborated that since architecture serves people, we should never give up on serving them despite of limitation and boundaries. Architecture is a significant artistic endeavour that can also begin from scratch as we have to respect nature and cherish mother earth. Overall, it’s a process which is crucial in place making. Furthermore he added, Teamwork is essential in all aspect of life.
Overall, the presentation was successful in imparting knowledge on architecture and connecting it to the digital world.
