On 15 Jestha 2078, Khwopa Engineering College and Khwopa College of Engineering jointly organized a formal program in which recently enrolled students at the colleges were rendered orientation and their outstanding graduates (Gold Medalists in their respective academic programs of PU and TU) were felicitated along with Rs. 25,000 cash award, with the presence of distinguished guests.
At the program, MP Prem Suwal, Member Secretary of Nepal Workers and Peasants' Party, stated the academic institutions undertaken by Bhaktapur Municipality have been successful in providing quality education at an affordable fee. Mentioning that development has been swiftly achieved in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea due to a high number of engineers in the country, he assured Bhaktapur Municipality has run engineering colleges after discovering a need of competent engineers in Nepal, too.
MP Suwal articulated the possibility of providing MBBS Course at the cost of 15 Lakh rupees if Khwopa Univesity is allowed to establish and run. He remarked Nepal Government has put the cost of MBBS course to be 40 lakh rupees, but the cost has reached 70 lakh rupees, while in practice, it has become inaccessible to the people from the common strata.
MP Suwal spoke of the essentiality of revolution for the sake of service to the people and country. He added with regard to thought and philosophy, people's representatives belonging to a party and independent people's representatives are vastly different from each other.
Mayor of Bhaktapur Municipality Sunil Prajapati, Chairman of the College Management Committee, voiced that the Municipality has been running engineering colleges to produce competent engineers dedicated to the country and people by providing affordable and quality education. He further affirmed that the only interest of people's representatives is to serve people as much as possible.
Mentioning Bhaktapur Municipality has been recognized as the outstanding municipality in the country, Mayor Prajapati regretted that Nursing College run by the municipality has not been allowed to continue with new intake in the running academic session. He also insisted that Khwopa Hospital should be allowed, without any delay, to run.
Mayor Prajapati expressed his worries about Nepal Government still not being wise enough to not bring a situation like Sri Lanka to the country.
Deputy Mayor of Bhaktapur Municipality Rajani Joshi, Vice-Chairperson, College Management Committee, noted Bhaktapur Municipality has been conducting academic institutions to intellectualize the society and the municipality in advancing its work as per the philosophy of "Bhaktapur after a century'.
Mr. Rabindra Jyakhwo, Chairman of Ward–9, Bhaktapur Municipality, revealed that academic institutions have been run with the initiation and involvement of People's representatives of the Nepal Workers and Peasants Party. He demanded that the engineers who graduated from the colleges should be competent, honest and loyal to the country and people.
At the same program, Er. Sujan Maka, Principal of Khwopa Engineering College and Er. Sunil Duwal, Principal of Khwopa College of Engineering expressed their beliefs that students of the respective college will eventually emerge as competent engineers/architects after their four years long or five years long course on the grounds that faculty and staff are working hard continuously in tandem with other stakeholders of the colleges for the same.
